Bright and Talented Kids

Some of the students here amaze me.

Here is Sharon Huang, daughter of Claudia's host family, tells a story of how the first rice wonton was created:

On July 10th, Claudia and I visited Sanxia Junior High School.  They have a Taiwanese aboriginal dance and drum group.  Here they are performing their amazing Bamboo Dance:

  1. The speaker was very courageous. How many years has she studied English? Do the students learn everything from lessons and text? Or do some also read or watch foreign media?

My recollection is that some young people abroad sign up for English to try to understand popular music lyrics. I regretted to tell them that native speakers often don't understand the lyrics either. Often they are deliberately obscure, or the slang and vulgarity defy polite translation. Strangely, some could recite lyrics with phonetic accuracy, but I was not help at all in telling them what they meant!

Do you ever use the GF3?
